Crimes That Are Commonly Classified as Sex Crimes: Sex crimes include a large spectrum of incidents from the innocent first love that results in underage sex, to lewd conduct and indecent exposure, and to sexual assault, rape, and child molestation.  Sex crimes also include possession of child pornography, digital penetration, and kidnapping with intent to rape.  Regardless of the charges and the facts, I am equipped to handle your case with absolute professionalism and zeal. General Approach: each case is and approached with a strategy based on the facts and needs of the client.  Sex crimes are often overcharged by overzealous prosecutors whose political agenda is to be “tough on crime,” not caring that their political net catches both the true criminals and the less culpable individuals, such as the experimenting teen whose life could be forever altered.  Everyone deserves a fair day in court and a competent defense team. Against you is a prosecutor, the prosecutor’s supervisor, a victim’s advocate, the arresting police officers, and the investigating or lead officer. Typically, in these cases expert witnesses such as emergency medicine doctors, DNA experts, and licensed investigators are consulted.  The point is that if you are accused, the least you can do is to level the playing field.

Not All Criminal Defense Attorneys are Created Equal: Sex crimes are very serious crimes.  And so, a criminal defense attorney who has substantial experience handling sex cases is what you need.  However, there are many criminal defense attorneys who will not take sex cases or cannot properly handle sex crime cases.  You will know you are talking to one when he or she is rude to you, will not have time to meet with you, or winces when you talk about your case.  Everyone deserves to have someone stand on their side when accused by the government.  The Sixth Amendment of the United States Constitution guarantees that “in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall have the assistance of counsel” for his defense.  This duty is taken very seriously.

Sex Offender Registration: A sex case can result in lifetime sex offender registration.  Having to register as a sex offender for life is not just about being listed on a government website.  In many ways, registration is a more serious punishment than probation, classes, jail, or even prison!  Registration will affect where you can live, what jobs you can obtain, where you can hang out, and your privacy forever.  When being accused of committing a sex crime, don’t just “get it over with” and “take a deal” to get out of court faster.  Doing so could affect your rights for the rest of your life.  Furthermore, don’t trust your future to just any criminal defense lawyer!  Hire an experienced lawyer who is creative, resourceful, and experienced.
